Here’s a story of a cold call voicemail that became a sale.

Voicemails do work.

Voicemail ImageWe changed our health insurance for our company a while back. In today’s environment, it’s a lot of work. New laws (don’t get me started) have led to many new types of plans.

Why do I share this story with you? No, it’s not because I want to you share in my pain—it is because the sale originated with a cold call.

Here’s the morale of the story. I returned the voicemail because we were ‘in the market’ when the salesman left it. Had he not left a message, he would have never gotten the business because during the time I was contemplating making this change, I was screening my calls with Caller ID as I was in the middle of another project and was—‘Too Busy’.

The fact that people use voicemail to screen calls is not new. It is also one of the six reasons I’ve previously written about to leave voicemails.

Voicemails and emails do get returned and cold calling does work.
